How do I determine which weight of Injinji sock I need?
The weight of a sock refers to its thickness. Injinji socks come in 4 weights (from thinnest to thickest): Lightweight Ultra-Thin; Original Weight Thin; Midweight Padded Cushioning (these socks); and Midweight with Padded Toes. The thicker they are, the more padding between your toes, but the more room they take up in your shoe. The thinner they are, the less interdigital protection you have, but the less likely you are to have cramped toes. Your perfect Injinji sock weight will depend on how much cushioning protection you would like for your toes, how wide your toes are, how much free space (width) you have in the toe box of your shoe, whether you plan on wearing any other toe protections with your toesocks (eg: tape, gel toe protectors, toe props), and aspects relating to swelling, like the duration of the activity and your foot’s propensity to swell.
Are the Injinji Run Midweight Toesocks quick-drying?
Run Midweight Toesocks are composed of 30% CoolMax, EcoMade, 67% Nylon and 3% Lycra. None of these synthetic fibre have a tendency to hold onto water. So, you could consider this a quick-drying sock, in spite of its cushioning thickness.
What are the differences between the Mini-Crew and No-Show styles?
Mini-crew socks cover the malleoli (ankle bones), whereas no-show socks sit below the malleoli. If you have a tendency to clip your ankle with your other foot, mini-crew will give the skin of your ankles a little protection. Similarly, if you’re running on trails that are uneven or likely to be covered with twigs and debris, the mini-crew Injinjis will further protect your ankles from being scuffed and scratched.
How thick are the Midweight socks? Will they affect my required shoe size?
It’s difficult to provide an exact thickness, particularly because the sock will compress to some degree. But the Injinji Run Midweight Toesocks are the 3rd thickest of 4 thicknesses in the Injinji range - only the UltraRun series is thicker. Either way, you won’t need to go an extra size up, or even a half-size up. But you may think about wearing a shoe with a wider shaped toe box - to accommodate the additional interdigital sock bulk. Altra and Topo are brands that have a much roomier toe box in terms of both width, and its overall shape.
Can the Injinji Run Midweight Toesocks be used for activities other than running?
